As spring blossoms into its full glory, Sacramento and its surrounding areas become adorned with vibrant hues and fragrant blooms, offering a delightful invitation to explore its lush gardens. Whether you’re a seasoned botanist or simply someone who revels in the beauty of nature, the upcoming garden tours in the Sacramento area promise a feast for the senses and a wealth of inspiration.

River Park Garden Tour – April 20th

Kicking off the floral festivities is the River Park Garden Tour on April 20th, orchestrated by the River Park Garden Club. The self-guided tour, Saturday. April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include six diverse River Park backyard gardens. 

Gardens Gone Native Tour – April 27th

Venture deeper into Sacramento’s botanical tapestry with the “Gardens Gone Native Tour” on April 27th, organized by the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the California Native Plant Society. The Gardens Gone Native tour is a free garden tour featuring thirty California native plant home and school gardens in the Sacramento region. Gardens are comprised predominantly of California native plants in the urban landscape. These gardens feature a variety of ways in which native plants can flourish in the home garden. Some are professionally designed while others are more functional and are a mix use of natives, food production, and living spaces. You will find delightful and sustainable gardens that harness water, create habitats, and add a sense of place. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask garden hosts about their choices and challenges. After registration you will receive the map and tour brochure information the week before the tour begins.es, participants will immerse themselves in the natural splendor of California’s native landscapes.

Curtis Park Home Tour – April 27th

Simultaneously, the Curtis Park neighborhood invites visitors to experience its renowned home tour on the same day. The 34th Curtis Park Home and Garden Tour will showcase five homes, including a Crocker Village estate and a “tiki hut” garage conversion on Saturday, April 27th, from 10 am to 4 pm. Enjoy a variety of architectural styles and interior decor, including unique indoor/outdoor entertainment and kitchen spaces.

Colonial Heights Garden Tour – May 5th

Continuing the journey through Sacramento’s green havens, the Colonial Heights neighborhood welcomes visitors to explore its charming gardens on May 5th. Stroll palm tree lined streets on Sunday, May 5th from 10AM-3PM to explore this charming neighborhood and the plants, flowers, and life that grow here; dating back to the early 1900’s. The tour headquarters will be at Colonial Park.

Davis Garden Tour – May 5th

Visit five gorgeous private gardens in Davis on this self-guided tour, and enjoy learning about plant selection from Yolo County Master Gardeners. Artists Marie-Therese Brown, Raquel Cox, Marlene Lee, Barbara Smithson, and Teresa Steinbach-Garcia are painting in the gardens from 12-4:30 PM. Stop by the Pence for a special demonstration by Inga Poslitur of her floral paintings from 2-5 PM, or take a quick tour of her exhibit Renewal at 1 PM. Also, the first 150 people to visit the Pence can pick up a free snack bag. This event provides essential funds to support the mission of the Pence Gallery, a nonprofit art organization. 

East Sacramento Garden Tour – May 5

Marking the midpoint of May, the East Sacramento Garden Tour unfolds over two days, inviting visitors to meander through a tapestry of urban landscapes transformed by the hands of passionate gardeners. The 24th Annual East Sac Garden Tour includes 6 fabulous outdoor spaces ranging from drought-tolerant, to edible, to a secret garden and more. Along with our 6 featured homes we always highlight our 3 on-campus gardens that students and staff care for year round. We’re thrilled to invite guests to join us in the Wine Garden for an additional ticket price.

Tahoe Park Garden Tour – May 18th

Rounding out the month’s festivities is the Tahoe Park Garden Tour on May 18th, offering a delightful conclusion to the spring garden season. The Tahoe Park Garden Tour provides an opportunity to bring neighbors together to share in the beauty of gardens. From drought tolerant gardens to unique backyards, each garden provides inspiration and reflection. Tickets can be purchased online or in person. For those who purchase online tickets you can pickup your program and map of all gardens at the Garden Headquarters (5959 8th Avenue), in Sacramento starting at 10AM on May 18th. Then you can wander the gardens from 10AM-3PM in whatever order you please at your leisure.
